BWCA - A girl invades "guys" trip yet again...

It's been over a year since I have been backpacking.  So, as you can tell I am getting super pumped about my upcoming vacation this year. Frank his friend Ethan and myself will be going out to the wilderness and living somewhat off the land.

This trip was planned months and months in advance and I wasn't planning on going. However one of the guys had to back out (sorry Bob) I get to take your place. For me it's been a couple of months of notice. Mike went last year so I am using most of his stuff this year and that saves some money!!!

From what I read last year on Franks trip report was breath taking and sounded so perfect. I want to ensure I document it with a camera so I can contribute to this years trip report that Frank will write. As much as i wanted to take my good camera i'm not. I have that new phone water proof, and my point and shoot that will be coming with me.  I have been getting spoiled like no other with memory cards, more waterproof casing, and tripods. Last night I received a thing that will allow my phone to float. (bad ass right)!!

BWCA Boundry Waters Canoe Area - worth a google if you will! It is an amazing untouched placed by civilization that you can not use a motor to get there; unless the motor is your two feet and or boat of some sort that you paddle.  Frank and I will share a canoe I will be on the front I am the speed Frank gets to direct us in the right direction. I think this will be great for Frank and I to work on our communication. We will then pack all our gear into this canoe and be off.

We will start at Mudro entry point. I assume the water level is higher so our portage won't be so bad yet. I have seen photos and read trip reports that talk about some portages that are just hard.  These people don't typical backpack so I'm not too worried as they are not to long. We will be double portaging that means Frank will drop the canoe off at our next lake and I will carry our food to the next lake and then walk back to get our sleeping and clothing gear.  Ethan our friend will already be out at our first night spot called bear trap lake. Our first challenge with out phones or GPS we have to find this guy in the middle of well no where. Once we find him we are done moving for the day, we get to set up camp and get some dinner and head off for the rest of the adventure.

Meal planning can be a pain however for some reason its been a lot of fun.  Over the past few weeks mainly I have been on a drying frenzy. I have dehydrated corn, peas, broccoli, rice, sauces, mushrooms, red bell peppers, and what ever else I have done. I still have a lot more to go to finish off some of the meals I want to make. Currently in my dehydrator  I have salsa I plan on making fish taco's while we are out in the wild. Chips and salsa might be a welcomed surprise for the group. Also working on finding or making a special dessert to surprise the guys with.

Once I finish all my meals I plan on posting them here. So here here to solar powered things, Here here to friends, Here here to the dehydrator , Here here to 8 or 9 days without running water and tv's. It's time to be a hippy and be one with nature. Speaking of nature.. the rest of is TMI read at your own risk. I am due to start my period that same week. I really really hope i bring tampons for no reason as much as it would suck to have morning sickness out there I'll take it!
