Hey all it's been a while. Wanted to update everyone on this homemade
stuff. Today I would like to talk about Almond Milk and Hummus.
Everyone says on the internet that this is
easy and if you have a good blender/food processor it is a simple task. Almond
milk isn't as quick as the hummus due to the prep. However it is fun to make
and taste pretty awesome.
I got a bag full of blanched almonds. soaked 1 cup full over night
in water I have read you can go up to 2 days soaking. After I soak them I
tossed in blender added 3 and half parts of water. Blend for 45 seconds let it
settle to the bottom and repeat. Sometimes I get a little silly and repeat that
more than once because it's fun to watch all the bits settle. Anyway, I
only have one of those splash guard fine meshed screens it's bigger then what I
have so I had to pour the blended mixture into a larger bowl. Once it was all removed from the blender I
pressed the ground almond into the strainer to get every last drop of yummy
goodness I could, and set the almond pulp aside. I took the large bowl of almond milk and poured it back in the blend for the sole purpose
to bottle it and there was a pour spout on the blender. not the bowl. I tasted
it and it's really good I got about 4 cups If you want more add more water and
thin it out. I want to make it a little thicker next time as well as adding a
bit of sweetness it could use it. Stay
tuned and I'll have more recipes to share later on with this almond milk stuff.
Hummus wasn't as simple just because i didn't use the right tool
to blend it.. However it tasted great. I ate it all prior to get photos or
anything and i didn't really keep track of what i put in it. So if i can
recreate it I'll post more on that.
Photography is going well, I think i might even make a company and
get a legit name and id for it. Working on pulling all that together. Other
then that the personal life is good mom got her 2nd knee and we are working through
the healing process.
off to go make some waffles with coconut flour.. and make some
almond flour from the pulp.. Take care!
